HALONG BAY, VIETNAM

A UNESCO World Natural Heritage Area, very unique with limestone karsts situated in the bay. Very picturesque but the haze is so thick at this time of the year. There were so many boats that we were warned not to go on deck as collisions with other tourist boats occur frequently.
Halong Bay as seen from our hotel.

Tourist boats for hire everywhere.

There must have been hundreds of boats of all sizes and shapes.

Yes, yet more boats for hire.

The haze gives a special effect to photos.

New jetty work in-progress mar the natural beauty of Baitulong islands.

Stalactites in the caves of the Baitulong National Park.

Just use your imagination to see what they resemble.

They said to look for jellyfish.

Some people threw coins into the pool.

Guess everyone's heading in the same direction.

One of those boats with cabins for overnight cruising.

Live seafood : different species of crabs and clams at the floating restaurant.

Mantis prawns, clams, oysters and mini geoduck?

Different types of clams.

One of our fellow travellers, Zai purchased this pair of horseshoe crabs for US40.00 which she then generously shared with us for lunch.

Fishermen bringing in a new supply of fish to the floating restaurant.

Reminds us of Guilin lanscape.

The famous kissing rocks where another boat collided with ours whilst jostling for a better view point.

It was quite an experience when the boats collided at the place of the kissing rocks. Too many boats were jostling to get the best view for their patrons. Thankfully, we were forwarned and nobody was thrown off the boat. It was worth everything to see the scenic views and lunch on the boat with sumptuous seafood. Cheers!!!
